When it comes to picking a good affiliate offer, I have a 5 step process that I use.

I use it to avoid bad offers.

It is pretty simple and works great….

1. Pick a niche that you believe you can promote. Use something you can create good angles and ideas around. A niche you’re somewhat knowledgeable in is a good starting point. If you’re unsure at first don’t worry, this skill will develop over time. If you’re newbie, I recommend something with a payout in the $3-$10 range. This helps you keep testing cheap.

2. Look for the top offers with the highest network average EPCs in your niche. Make a list of the top 1-2 offers on each of your affiliate networks. (Do not compare network average EPCs between different affiliate networks. There are too many variables.)

3. Ask each of your affiliate managers what offers they thinks are doing the best in niche.

4. Look over each offer in detail yourself, look at things like the landing page copy, the design, the price for the consumer (if a straight sale offer), and the overall feeling in your gut.

Consider how easily/fast you can make a good landing page for it. Be sure to read our top 2 landing page guides here:

How to Make Landing Pages! (Method #1)

How to Make Landing Pages! (Method #2)

5. Pick your top 2-3 offers to split test. (Make sure you test each offer for at least 100 clicks before jumping to conclusions.)

6. You may need step number 6, if your offer(s) requires approval. If your offer(s) requires approval, reach out to your affiliate manager or whoever handles approvals at the network. Don’t be afraid to give them a call, and follow up until you get approved. Also if they ask you for your ads or landing pages don’t worry too much, this is very common.

Good Luck!

I’ve literally used this trick to make $1,000+.

All it takes is an interesting page that I really want to dive into deeper.

1. Find a nice looking landing page or website you see an advertiser running.

2. Go to YouGetSignals Domain Check and enter the landing page’s root domain. (without the http://www.)

3. Wait a bit, and you’ll be returned all the other websites that are being hosted on that server. BOOM! This is the perfect way to see what other landing pages or websites an affiliate has.

4. Combine this spying trick with our other spying guides, and you’ll be unstoppable:

Want to size up the PPV competition?

Here is a step-by-step guide for spying TrafficVance PPV pop-ups.

We’ve got everything you need to install to get things working properly.

1. You are going to need a PC with Internet Explorer installed. (Its a good idea for this to not be a primary computer. Do to step 3.)

2. Uninstall any toolbars your Internet Explorer may have on it. Go to “Add or Remove Programs” to do this. You need to make sure they are all completely gone.

3. Go into your Internet Explorer’s options. Turn off all pop-up blockers and set all security settings as low as possible. This is key to spy on the TrafficVance PPV pop-ups.

4. Install the GameVance toolbar. Strangely it can be a pain to find at times, so I uploaded the exe file here.

5. Wait 24 hours. You need to wait 24 hours before the pop-ups will start showing.

6. Now TrafficVance pop-ups will come somewhat sporadically, and will only pop once a day for an individual site. So there’s no need for banging refresh on the same webpage looking for new pop-ups, just go to a similar site.

If you have any questions or issues post them below in the comments. There can be a lot of version conflicts, and we want to sort everything out.

Good luck with your TrafficVance PPV spying. Meanwhile, “How to Spy on LeadImpact” is in the works.

Before you launch any PPV campaigns run over this marketing checklist.

A few of these maybe fairly obvious to some, but I promise 95% of PPV marketers are losing clicks with the last two.

Don’t believe me, just read them. They have made me $1,000+.

1. Make sure you are on a dedicated or VPS server. This goes for any link, redirect, or tracking associated with your PPV marketing. You are only as strong as your weakest link.

2. Make sure you use a tracking method that can handle your traffic. I’ve heard good thing about CPV Lab, but personally I use my own custom setup. ALWAYS USE TRACKING, don’t be lazy.

3. Make sure your pop-up fits nicely into your PPV network’s pop-up window size. Sure they may say “800px by 600px”, but what does that really mean? Does it include browser toolbars… ect? The best way is to install the network’s pop-up generator and see some for yourself. Check out these posts of ours Spying on LeadImpact Ads and Spy on TrafficVance Ads.

4. Make sure you check the page in multiple browsers. For example if you are using TrafficVance go check it in IE, and the more versions the better. Unless you are a CSS wizard, browsers generally all interpret stuff differently.

5. Make sure everything on your page is a clickable link to your offer. A simple rule for any landing page PPV or not.

Also sure to reference this post 25+ CTR Tricks for PPV Landing Pages to amp you CTR to the next level.

6. Make sure all your links open in a new window. This makes the consumer have to exit out of more stuff. Which equals a higher chance for a sale. If you are coding challenged just read this. Another simple rule for any landing page, PPV marketing or not.

7. Double check your landing page for ads. Some PPV networks *cough* TrafficVance *cough* will advertise on your pop-up. Turning your landing page’s text and EVEN offer links into clickable advertisements. Take a look at this example pop.

The best way to stop this is to change the words, or use background colored letters instead of spaces. For example “Credit Score” will more than likely get an ad link placed on it, but “CreditzScore” won’t. So just make the “z” the same color as your pop-up’s background, for example “CreditzScore”. See what I did there? See the hidden white “z” in the middle? This will throw off the ad generator. Or you make your LP a complete click-able image.

Remember the only way you can check this is to install the PPV network’s toolbar ect., and view your page for yourself. Otherwise you are more than likely throwing away clicks to someone like me.

8. Now most PPV marketing networks won’t allow you to force your pop-ups to open into a full-sized window. But you should defiantly be forcing your offer to.

Do you seriously want your offer to open in a lame 800px by 600px window?

Here is what you need to do… Add a redirect to the offer, and include this script in the redirect’s code. This script takes over the user’s browser and forces the new page (the offer) to open in a full sized window. Here is the code:

So just to be clear…. Your 800×600 PopUp –> Redirect with the Script –> Your Offer

Also make sure to test this because sometimes how you code your redirect can cause issues. Overall this script is one of best out there, I’ve seen a lot of scripts that don’t work in older versions of IE.

So good luck, and happy popping!

This Buy Now button collection is great to have in your toolbox of tricks. Nearly any sales page will need one.

This collection was compiled using over 20 different websites from all over the internet. Each button was hand picked, so you don’t have to worry about sorting through low CTR buttons.

Make sure you take time to split them, the right button can sky rocket conversions.

The Buy Now buttons were all complied into a zip file for easy download. If you find any or have any you would like to share, sound off in the comments section and I’ll update the zip file.

Thanks for all the support, and feedback is always welcomed!
