My $1,000 PPV Marketing Checklist

ppv-marketing

Before you launch any PPV campaigns run over this marketing checklist.

A few of these maybe fairly obvious to some, but I promise 95% of PPV marketers are losing clicks with the last two.

Don't believe me, just read them. They have made me $1,000+.

1. Make sure you are on a dedicated or VPS server.  This goes for any link, redirect, or tracking associated with your PPV marketing. You are only as strong as your weakest link.

2. Make sure you use a tracking method  that can handle your traffic.  I've heard good thing about CPV Lab, but personally I use my own custom setup.  ALWAYS USE TRACKING, don't be lazy.

3. Make sure your pop-up fits nicely into your PPV network's pop-up window size.  Sure they may say “800px by 600px”, but what does that really mean?  Does it include browser toolbars… ect?  Nope! Read this guide here. And check out these posts of ours Spying on LeadImpact Ads and Spy on TrafficVance Ads.

4. Make sure you check the page in multiple browsers.  For example if you are using TrafficVance go check it in IE, and the more versions the better.  Unless you are a CSS wizard, browsers generally all interpret stuff differently.

5. Make sure everything on your page is a clickable link to your offer.  A simple rule for any landing page PPV or not.

Also sure to reference this post 25+ CTR Tricks for PPV Landing Pages to amp you CTR to the next level.

6. Make sure all your links open in a new window.   This makes the consumer have to exit out of more stuff.  Which equals a higher chance for a sale.  If you are coding challenged just read this. Another simple rule for any landing page, PPV marketing or not.

7. Double check your landing page for ads.  Some PPV networks *cough* TrafficVance *cough* will advertise on your pop-up.  Turning your landing page's text and EVEN offer links into clickable advertisements. Take a look at this example pop.

The best way to stop this is to change the words, or use background colored letters instead of spaces.  For example “Credit Score” will more than likely get an ad link placed on it, but “CreditzScore” won't.   So just make the “z” the same color as your pop-up's background, for example “CreditzScore”.   See what I did there? See the hidden white “z” in the middle?  This will throw off the ad generator. Or you make your LP a complete click-able image.

Remember the only way you can check this is to install the PPV network's toolbar ect., and view your page for yourself.   Otherwise you are more than likely throwing away clicks to someone like me. :)

8. Now most PPV marketing networks won't allow you to force your pop-ups to open into a full-sized window.  But you should defiantly be forcing your offer to.

Do you seriously want your offer to open in a lame 800px by 600px window?

Here is what you need to do… Add a redirect to the offer, and include this script in the redirect's code.  This script takes over the user's browser and forces the new page (the offer) to open in a full sized window. Here is the code:

  1. <script language="JavaScript">
  2. window.onload = maxWindow;
  3.
  4. function maxWindow()
  5. {
  6. window.moveTo(0,0);
  7.
  8.
  9. if (document.all)
  10. {
  11.   top.window.resizeTo(screen.availWidth,screen.availHeight);
  12. }
  13.
  14. else if (document.layers||document.getElementById)
  15. {
  16.   if (top.window.outerHeight<screen.availHeight||top.window.outerWidth<screen.availWidth)
  17.   {
  18.     top.window.outerHeight = screen.availHeight;
  19.     top.window.outerWidth = screen.availWidth;
  20.   }
  21. }
  22. }
  23. </script>

So just to be clear….  Your 800×600 PopUp  –>  Redirect with the Script –> Your Offer

Also make sure to test this because sometimes how you code your redirect can cause issues.  Overall this script is one of best out there, I've seen a lot of scripts that don't work in older versions of IE.

So good luck, and happy popping!

    If you are going from your lander to script page to offer, how do you not lose your tracking information?

  2. dan says:

    I need help setting up my PPV campaign appreciate if you could share some of your thoughts and suggestions. Could you email me. TQ

  3. Jack Deere says:

    If you follow step 8, step 3 isn’t needed as such?

    • Greedy says:

      With step 8 you are resizing the window of the offer you are linking to, not the original pop-up. So step 3 is needed.

  4. Jack Deere says:

    How do you use the script in step 8 with a PHP redirect? The PHP redirect will run first and then trying to alter the header will cause a runtime error. Or do you use JS to redirect?

  5. Aya says:

    Hi Greedy,
    I know how to create a landing page using Photoshop and Adobe Dreamweaver, but I don’t know how to make my landing a only click-able image?
    Thanks.

  6. scott leyland says:

    Hi Greedy,

    How do i this– Add a redirect to the offer, and include this script in the redirect’s code.

    I am using Photoshop and Dreamweaver to create my own landers.

    Thx for great info.

    DK

  7. scott leyland says:

    Hi Greedy,

    How do i get my offer to open a full size window,not sure were to put the script.

    Thx

  8. How can i use the redirect code, please elaborate the last point

    Thanks

    • Greedy says:

      You just make an index.html file with a redirect script in it. Then also add the full window scrip above.

      If you are unsure how to do redirects just do a quick Google.

  9. chmurdock says:

    Hi Greedy-

    Do you use this FullScreen Script /redirect in coordination with a new window/tab a la target=”_blank” ?

  10. j says:

    hi, #8 doesn’t seem to work with leadimpact on chrome? i have a ppv lander that when you click it takes you to a redirect page where i have this code. so lander.php > offerredirect.php (where it should resize it) and then redirects to offer.

  11. Andriy Yatsyk says:

    Hi,
    Redirect work automaticly when pop-up open or it work only when visotor click on yuor LP?

    • Greedy says:

      A redirect only works when they click on the link, unless you linking direct to the redirect URL with the pop-up.

  12. Andriy Yatsyk says:

    Can you share with your redirect code that you use?

  13. Budianda Tioanda says:

    Hi Greedy,

    I’m using Bevomedia for tracking, and they provide their own redirect php code for CTR tracking, but the problem is the redirect php can ONLY contain the script that they provide, so I was wondering how I can place your script into the redirect php provided by Bevomedia… Do you have any solution?

    Thanks you very much!

    • Greedy says:

      Not that I know of, but I wouldn’t worry so much as many browser don’t respond to that script as much any more.

      It is one of those things that doesn’t hurt, but it isn’t a big deal if you can’t use. Hope that make sense.

  14. Roger Moore says:

    Hi Greedy….

    Is resizing prohibited on some traffic sources?… IE Leadimpact, TrafficVance

    • Greedy says:

      Also long it do it after your LP it is typically OK. You main pop-up LP is not allowed, but most browsers block this script now.

  15. Sandy Junior says:

    For point number 6. Make sure all your links open in a new window.
    Have you tested it yet? I get more conversion when links open in the same window

  16. Prince Human says:

    When you create a landing page, do you prefer to create sites that links directly to the offer without asking for an email or do you set up a squeeze page?

  17. Souvik Mallick says:

    Hello greedy,
    I need some help setting up my PPV campaign. Would really appreciate if you can provide small help and suggestion. how to contact you?

    • Greedy says:

      What is your issue?

      • Souvik Mallick says:

        Greedy – I have a set up a campaign on leadimpact with a landing page.
        I am using prosper202. Today the campaign got started, got the traffic but prosper202 can’t get the details of visit and ctr to offer page. Got one lead too so far but that isn’t showing up on prosper202. I have added the LP code from posper202 to the landing page, tracking pixel to my network offer. But still cant figureout what went wrong.
        When i am testing manually, prosper202 is showing all the stats.
        Can you please tell me what i am doing wrong?
        When i am direct linking, i am getting all the stats. When i am using LP i am getting stats on prosper202 when checking everything manually. But when the traffic is coming from LI, prosper202 cant show the stats.

        • Greedy says:

          Do you have the tracking script in on your landing page?

          • Souvik Mallick says:

            Yes, javascript tracking code is installed just before of the landing page and tracking url to the offer page. I have tested prosper202 on my windows vps, shared hostings and it didn’t workout. So i have now shifted to voluuum tracking software.

          • Greedy says:

            Could be hosting provider, I would check with them or stick the one that are know to work with 202.

  18. Souvik Mallick says:

    hmm. Thanks greedy for your response. Voluum is working fine for me. :)

  19. Adam Walczyk says:

    Hello Greedy,

    This redirect to full sized window works only with my IE.

    Do you have script that will work with Chrome and Firefox?

    Thank you in advance.
